Stakeholder Engagement
As wind energy and marine renewable energy projects are being planned and permitted, local communities, organizations, and other parties with a measurable interest in the outcome can be involved in the planning process through stakeholder engagement. Locals may be able to provide valuable information about a project location that may result in early changes or mitigation before costs accumulate. Those who are opposed to the project may share their concerns with regulators and work towards a compromise. Stakeholder engagement is a key aspect of project proposal, scoping, and siting, and helps to balance the progression of the wind energy and marine renewable energy industries with the needs and knowledge of local people to achieve the optimal outcome.
