Denmark is located in Northern Europe, covers 42,921 km2 (16,571 mile2) of land surface, and has a population of 5.8 million people (UN data, 2021). Denmark’s primary energy production is 160 terawatt-hours (TWh), and energy supply per capita is 34 MWh (UN data, 2021). Oil is the largest source of energy consumed, accounting for 45% of the national total (Our World in Data, 2021). Denmark is home to 82 threatened species (UN data, 2021).
