Abstract
Highlighting conservation issues can sometimes be downers that bring to mind Aldo Leopold's famous quote: "Being an ecologist is living in a world of wounds." Others can tend to act as generally unfriendly encyclopedias of information, useful only to conservation planners. Farmland Birds Across the World is unique creation. It highlights the importance of agricultural habitats to global birdlife in a way that is accessible, informative, and engaging to the casual reader, ecologist, and conservationist alike.
