Abstract
EDP Renewables (EDPR) has proposed to develop the Arkwright Summit Wind Project (Project) in Chautauqua County, New York. EDPR contracted Western EcoSystems Technology, Inc. (WEST) to conduct breeding bird surveys within the proposed Project Area to assist in evaluating potential impacts that the development of a wind energy facility, associated construction, and operations might have on breeding birds in the Project area. The principal objectives of the study were to: 1) provide site-specific data on avian resources and use of the Project area that would be useful in evaluating potential impacts from the proposed wind energy facility, 2) provide information that could be useful in project planning and design of the facility to minimize potential impacts to birds, and 3) recommend further studies or potential mitigation measures, if warranted.
