Abstract
This report documents the sixth operational year of the Belwind offshore wind farm and its environmental monitoring activities. Notable research initiatives in 2016 included expanded bat monitoring, fish telemetry studies focused on cod behavior during nearby piling activities, and marine mammal monitoring using C-POD underwater noise detectors. The report details how 14 fish telemetry receivers were deployed to study cod responses to construction noise, while three C-PODs were installed to monitor marine mammal presence. Environmental monitoring was carefully coordinated with construction activities from the adjacent Nobelwind project. The report also describes maintenance activities, including blade repairs, and compliance with permit conditions. Research activities required careful coordination between scientific teams and wind farm operators, particularly during high-risk activities like research vessel trawling within the wind farm.
