National Institute for Coastal and Marine Management (RIKZ)
The National Institute for Coastal and Marine Management (RIKZ) was founded in 1985 and originated from various Public Works Department organisations, combining a great deal of expertise on the marine environment. In 2007 a major reorganisation took place in which RIKZ was split in 3 parts, that were integrated in 3 new organisations. The marine data monitoring and data management division, including marine databases, has been integrated into the new Rijkswaterstaat Data ICT Dienst. The marine environmental research and management division has been integrated into the new Rijkswaterstaat Waterdienst, while the coastal engineering division has been integrated into the new Deltares institute.
