LIFE+ Petrels
LIFE+ Petrels
The overall objective of this project is to prevent the extinction of two endemic petrels by developing demonstrative and innovative tools to conserve this natural and cultural heritage. Reunion is one of the few tropical islands in the world to host two species of endemic petrels. Unfortunately, if nothing is put in place quickly to conserve this natural heritage, these two species may add to the sad list of 23 extinct bird species on the island. For many years, actions for the protection of these species have been put in place by the Reunion National Park , the SEOR , the BNOI , the ONCFS and the University of Reunion.
