Australasian Bat Society, Inc.
The Australasian Bat Society is a non-profit organisation which aims to promote the conservation and study of bats in Australasia (Australia, New Zealand, the island of New Guinea, all of Melanesia in the south-west Pacific, and Wallacea). The Australasian region is a hot spot for both mega and micro bat diversity. However this region also has one of the highest numbers of species at risk from extinction. Over 30 percent of the world’s endangered and critically endangered bats (IUCN Red List) call Australasia home.
