Abstract
Highland and Islands Enterprise wish to commission a Marine Energy Test Centre (METC) on the south west corner of the mainland island of Orkney. The centre will provide the infrastructure facilities for carrying out testing of up to four offshore wave energy electricity generating devices.
Wave power represents a potentially huge resource of environmentally sound renewable energy and provides an opportunity to attract investment to many of the less favoured areas of Scotland. This document has been prepared to identify potential environmental impacts of the development and record the measures, which are proposed to mitigate these impacts.
