Colby College

Colby College is a private liberal arts college located on Mayflower Hill in Waterville, Maine, USA. Colby was founded in 1813, and was the first all-male college in New England to accept female students in 1871. The college named after prominent Baptist preacher Gardner Colby, who funded the school while it was in financial troubles.
 
Approximately 1,800 students from more than 60 countries are enrolled annually. The college offers 54 major fields of study and 30 minors. Among national liberal arts colleges, Colby was ranked 19th by U.S. News World & Report, 44th by Forbes, and 65th by Washington Monthly. Colby College competes in the NESCAC conference.
 
Colby has a close relationship with Bates College and Bowdoin College: the three schools compete in the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin Consortium, which is an athletic rivalry and academic exchange program. Outside of the Consortium, Colby competes as the White Mules in the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
