NYSERDA’s Offshore Wind team is hosting an educational webinar series to connect the public with independent experts in key topics in offshore wind, including wind farm technologies, development practices, regulatory processes, and research initiatives.

Idalia Machuca, Physical Oceanographer, DNV
Idalia Machuca is an Offshore Wind Analyst in the Renewables and Power Grids Advisory group at DNV, specializing in physical oceanography and metocean and geophysical site characterization. Her focus in offshore wind project development includes subject matter expertise and project management related to innovation and digitalization, ocean numerical modelling, wind energy assessments, navigation safety risk assessments, and subject matter training. Prior to her role at DNV, Idalia was a metocean engineer at Principle Power, where she conducted metocean analyses and defined metocean design criteria for semi-submersible floating offshore wind platforms for commercial and research & development projects across various geographies, including Asia, Europe, and North America. Idalia holds a Master of Science in Physical Oceanography and a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics from the University of British Columbia.
