Abstract
Triton is a US Department of Energy initiative to support the development of advanced and cost effective environmental monitoring technologies for marine renewable energy applications. This support is given in numerous ways, from providing a site that is permitted for the deployment of environmental monitoring technologies with vessel and scientific crew available, to developing real-time processing algorithms for data analysis. Our aim is to improve the commercially available environmental monitoring technologies, which will then streamline the environmental permitting process by better understanding the sensitivities and decreasing risk around interactions with devices.
One of the key features of Triton is to facilitate collaboration between industry, academia, and the national laboratories so that information can be shared easily, and solutions found to the most difficult questions.
