Abstract
In 2007, the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) held a workshop for key members of the marine renewable energy community to establish a strategy for a common international roadmap that reflects the needs of the community as a whole, but also includes regional/national requirements. Participants, who included academics, industry, policy-makers and funders, discussed the existing roadmaps and identified gaps and barriers, and they drafted a vision statement, business strategy and technical strategy for an international roadmap. Finally, the group made a list of recommendations/actions to use in developing an international marine roadmap based upon existing activities within the community, with UKERC taking the lead. This report provides a summary of the presentations and discussions that took place over the two days, along with a list of chief recommendations resulting from these discussions.
