In preparation for the 2024 State of the Science Report on environmental effects of marine renewable energy, OES-Environmental drafted a short white paper that aimed to establish a definition of displacement, explore what groups of animals may be affected, how they may be affected, and pathways for investigation through modeling and monitoring. OES-Environmental gathered experts online to collect feedback and attempt to reach a consensus around the definition and mechanisms of displacement in the context of marine energy. The expert forum was invitation-only.
